My name is Lori, and my husband and I have two daughters. We moved from Keller, TX to McKinney, TX in the year 2000. When we moved here, our oldest daughter had been in orthodontic treatment in Keller for about 4 months. She had an expander in her mouth to widen her upper jaw. Before we left our orthodontist in Keller, I asked the orthodontist who he would recommend we go to in McKinney because I knew nothing about McKinney. He pulled up orthodontists in McKinney and surrounding cities and immediately told me to go to Dr. Stephanie Crise at Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics. He said she had won several awards for her orthodontic skills and had already built up a nice sized practice. He said that she also had a fun office theme. So, I looked her up and called the office to come in for our initial exam and consultation. On our appointment day, I brought both of our daughters to her office, they were ages 7 and 8 at the time. Both of our daughters absolutely loved the office and especially the Hollywood theme. My older daughter said that she didn’t feel like she was at a doctor’s office but instead at a fun place to play.

The office had all kinds of stand-up Hollywood actors and fun characters, as well as many different movie posters on the walls. They had a miniature theater area where there was a children’s movie playing all the time. They had a beverage area for children and adults. There was also a study area, for children who had homework to do or for adults who needed to work during their child’s appointment. The most favorite thing that our daughters liked about the office was the croc buck program. If a patient came to their appointment and their teeth were clean, and none of their braces were broken, or if they wore their Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics t-shirt, then they were given Croc bucks. The patients could save these up and turn them in for prizes in the lighted showcase or for gift cards. Our girls absolutely loved collecting their Croc bucks and counting them up to turn in for prizes.

Another impressive thing about our first trip to the office was that all of the staff was so amazingly friendly when we walked in. I felt like I had been a patient there for years, and this was our first time to walk through the doors! We were all thoroughly impressed!

Both of my daughters did Phase I (early orthodontic treatment) and Phase II (Full Braces treatment) at Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics. They each wore an expander to widen their upper jaw as well as upper partial braces. My daughters are 15 months apart in age, so the older one started Phase I at age 8, and she was in Phase I until about age 9.5. My younger one started Phase I at age 8 and was also in Phase I about 16-18 months. We spent several wonderful years at Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics. Then, it was time for my older one to start the second phase of her treatment, which was full upper and lower braces. She had her full braces put on at age 12, and she wore them until age 14.

They always loved going to their appointments each time due to the friendly staff and the exciting atmosphere in the office. They were motivated to do everything the orthodontist asked them to do because they wanted to get Croc bucks. Toward the end of Phase II for both of our daughters, they had to wear rubber bands inside their mouths. Dr. Crise was very encouraging and always explained why various treatments were being done inside their mouths. We spent a total of 8 years at Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics between both daughters doing Phase I and Phase II. As a patient parent, I always enjoyed visiting with the front desk ladies as well as the various assistants and Dr. Crise and Dr. Downs each time we visited. I remember one day thinking that I bet the employees really enjoyed their jobs because everyone was always upbeat and super friendly, and you could tell the staff all enjoyed working with each other too.

I was sad after our youngest daughter had her last appointment at Smiles Hollywood, thinking I would not be seeing these wonderful people again, but little did I know, I would decide to do Invisalign/Active Clear Aligners on myself ten years later. I had braces in college and had worn my retainer for over 30 years after that. Then, I noticed my teeth shifting a bit, so I knew exactly where I was going to go to have Invisalign/Active Clear Aligner treatment done…..Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics! The office was still super fun, and all of the staff was very friendly even ten years later. There were some new employees since our daughters had been patients, but both Dr. Crise and Dr. Downs were still the orthodontists there, and even some of the front desk ladies, assistants, and lab technicians were the same! I had an excellent experience with the Invisalign/Active Clear Aligners treatment. My teeth look amazing now! I would highly recommend Clear Aligners as an adult. I love my smile so much because I definitely have a Hollywood Smile now!

About two years ago, I was looking for a job change, and I was at the grocery store and ran into the office manager at Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics. I remembered her from when I had active Clear Aligner treatment done, and we talked for a second, and she asked me what I was doing now. I told her I was praying about a career change. She said, “Well if we have anything come open, I will let you know”. I said, “Okay, sounds great!” Then about two weeks later, she called me and told me that the full-time treatment coordinator position was coming open and that she would be interested in me for the position. I said, “Yes!” I was so excited about the opportunity to work at Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics. I went in for my interview and then went back for a working interview. I absolutely loved all of the staff and was so excited when they offered me the position.

I feel like I’ve come full circle; from our children being treated at Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics and then myself having Invisalign/Active Clear Aligner treatment, and now I get to work at Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics and help others gain beautiful smiles too! We really are a big family at the office, and it’s such an enjoyable and rewarding job. We work really hard, but love what we do! We enjoy seeing each other every day and all of our patients too. We also love to celebrate birthdays, weddings, new babies, and anything else we can think of to celebrate. Smiles Hollywood Orthodontics is truly one big family, and we consider each of our patients as an extension of our family.
